While Aqaba has long been a magnet for tourists, it's increasingly becoming a beloved destination for locals. The city's welcoming ambiance, paired with its range of activities and amenities, makes it an ideal escape for those seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

We found there a variety of restaurants and cool places, beach clubs, and in general so many activities can be organized from the city.

Ayla - the luxurious

For a touch of luxury, head to the Ayla Oasis Complex. This upscale development not only offers stunning views of the Red Sea but also provides a sophisticated setting for indulgence. Staying in one of the resorts is very expensive, but a visit to one of the restaurants is much more manageable and feels very fancy. We tried Silica restaurant and were not disappointed. There are many shows at night and lots of shops with nice coffee and ice cream for an afternoon visit.

Sea activities

Aqaba's crystal-clear waters beckon adventure enthusiasts and relaxation seekers alike. The Red Sea, with its rich marine life and vibrant coral reefs, offers some of the most spectacular snorkeling spots. Dive into the underwater world and witness the kaleidoscope of colors beneath the surface.

We didn't do any diving ourselves, but heard many good things. It's also quite affordable. We instead bought our own snorkeling equipment (goggles and tuba), and went exploring the various pins on google maps, accessible from the public beaches.

For those seeking a more laid-back experience, Aqaba boasts an array of beach clubs where you can unwind in style. Sink your toes into the soft sand, bask in the warm sun, and let the rhythmic waves provide the soundtrack to your day of leisure.

We tried the Berenice Beach Club, and had the best time. The staff was great and made us participate in many activities with the other tourists and locals, and we were in the mood for it. Apparently, friday nights are a great time to be there.

Next stop on the roadtrip

Just an hour away, lies Wadi Rum, the iconic desert home to bedouins and their camps, where we spent a night.
