After 6 months of travel, we made it to Malawi! A country we knew very little about but that exceeded our expectations in every way, making it one of our favourite countries in Africa. We spent 16 days hitchhiking and using public transportation following the lake south, until we reached Cape Maclear. The few days spent in that village will be remembered forever as true happiness to us.

Day n°196 of our 10-month journey through Africa. We're waking up in Mzuzu, Malawi and heading to Nkhata Bay, where we're staying at the Butterfly Space.
It's a pretty representative day, waking up at a Couchsurfer's, taking public transportation, meeting and playing with kids, walking a lot, reading, working a bit.

Is it still possible to escape the crowds and find hidden gems in Zanzibar ? We weren't sure so we decided to see for ourselves !

Starting in Stone Town, we got to Jambiani for a couple of days. There we rented a scooter for 3 days, exploring the south of the island. Mtende Beach and a secret vacation for donation place. Mohamed then showed us around ZALA Park and we finished our trip in Michamvi.

Trekking the chimpanzees in Gombe, where Jane Goodall made all her research. It was not an easy task to visit the national park on a budget, but we managed, using the public boat and staying an extra night in the small fishermen's village of Mwamgongo. Visiting Murchinson Falls NP was on our list from the moment we arrived in Uganda, but we never really took the time to check out how to actually visit it. Tours were expensive, and anyway we prefer to do it on our own. Here is a breakdown of the cost (for 2 persons) :
Car rental (4*4, for 2 days) : 100$
Petrol : 65$
Ziwa sanctuary: 100$
Murchinson entrance fee + car fee: 101$
Camping at the Top of the Falls: 0$
Boat tour: 70$
Total: 436$ (400€), for 2.

We spent 15 days on the coast of Kenya, between beaches, wildlife and traditions ...

We started in Diani Beach after a long bus ride from Nairobi, where we stayed for 2 days at Stilts Tree Houses. The beach is incredible, the accomodation great and the 7pm bush baby dinner a real fun time.
From there, we got to Tiwi Beach, and camped for 2 nights at Twiga Lodge. We were alone, and felt like on a remote island, exposed to the elements but also to raw hapiness.
A full day exploring Mombasa, discovering a cool coffee place for the locals.
And finally Lamu for 9 days. Cultural festival, swahili cooking, chilling on the beach, boat rides, Lamu is beautiful and unique...

Our first impressions of Addis and visiting the churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO world heritage site. Lalibela is one of the holiest sites for Ethiopian Orthodox, it features 11 monolithic churches carved directly out of rock. It's an active pilgrimage site and it gets particularly busy around religious holidays. Some say it's the 8th Wonder of the World ... what do you think ?

We continue our journey inland and reach the Nile Valley and the first temples of Upper Egypt. As soon as we hopped off the bus in Luxor, we become the target of the many taxi drivers and sellers, competing for our attention. So different than the atmosphere along the Red Sea ! 
We get a great accomodation on Elephantine Island overlooking the sand dunes and even make it to Abu Simbel. 4 packed days !

Jordan was actually the first country of our "world tour". We ended up spending an extra week there, volunteering in the Wadi Rum with the bedouins. If we take the time, there will be a dedicated video about that soon. We then crossed to Egypt by ferry, where we are now.

Packing for our world tour in a 40 liters backpack | Osprey Fairview & Fairpoint

This was a 5-day beginner course in August 2023, in Puy Mary, France.
We were 10 beginners (exceptionnally high, usually the limit is 7 students) and 2 awesome instructors.

At the end of July 2023, we quit our jobs to go explore the world.

1-week paragliding course | Learning to fly in Puy Mary, France

The first week of August 2023, we walked for the first time on El Camino. We started in Le Puy and made our way to Saint-Chély d'Aubrac (covering approx 140km over 6 days). 
This video is a quite spontaneous conversation we're having a few days later with some footage of the hike. There's many subjects we didn't cover so feel free to leave a comment and we'll try our best to get you an answer.

We're leaving for our world tour in just a few days and wanted to leave some memory of that very special week. It's a bit different format, put together rather quickly, but we're still experimenting with the software (Premiere Pro), the equipment (phone + action camera) and our self-discipline :)

We definitely encourage you all to consider walking on Compostela as it's an incredible experience. We can't wait to come back to continue on our way !
